Mr & Mrs Rayson opened the\u00a0doors of Proctor House in 1984 and since that time it has been\u00a0providing\u00a0\u2018Residential Care\u2019 for\u00a0older adults, of any gender or race, who have\u00a0Learning Disabilities. Although Proctor House is not a Nursing Home it can, in collaboration with local district nurses and GPs, support Clients who require any\u00a0medical input. Proctor House has decades of\u00a0experience and has an excellent reputation in the professional and local\u00a0community .

Service User Category<\/strong> \u2013 Up to\u00a014 adults with\u00a0Learning Disability (LD) of any age including those over the\u00a0age of 65 years (LDE). Proctor House accepts individuals who are privately funded and also those whose fees are\u00a0paid, partially or fully, by a Local Authority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our excellent team of highly skilled and motivated staff are lead, and supported, by our Home Manager and Senior Care Workers who are on duty 24 hours a day. All of our\u00a0Care Workers have a significant wealth and breadth of knowledge, skills and experience in working with, and caring for, Clients\u00a0with Learning Disabilities\u00a0for the elderly and also for those at the end of their life. Most of our Care Team have achieved higher National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) in Care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our commitment to quality is also evident in our staffing levels which are constantly reviewed to reflect the needs of Clients and the Home.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Proctor House\u00a0offers many facilities and activities, including two\u00a0entertaining rooms with\u00a0flat screen\u00a0multimedia (TV and music)\u00a0together with a\u00a0library filled with excellent reading materials and\u00a0access to the latest news and magazine publications.\u00a0The Home runs regular activities: pamper sessions where the Clients\u00a0can have hair, skin or nail treatments, card games, knitting or sewing, monthly motivation exercise classes or Client\u2019s can simply sit back reminiscing.

Birthdays are always a special time and we can arrange a party at a venue and style of their\u00a0choice .On reques,t personal visits can also be arranged for Hairdressers, Chiropody, Dentistry and Opticians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day trips and outings\u00a0are offered regularly throughout the year.\u00a0 A disabled access minibus\u00a0takes\u00a0our Clients to local attractions such as Beamish Museum, Alnwick Castle and Shotley Bridge village, Stanhope, the Dales and many more. A comprehensive list can be found in the local attractions section. Our Clients\u00a0generally take an\u00a0annual holiday\u00a0in June\u00a0to\u00a0Blackpool, where we have a special relationship with the Bond Hotel,\u00a0or Haggerston Castle Caravan Holiday Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Proctor House operates a\u00a0Key Worker Care System\u00a0where each Client\u2019s needs and requirements are assessed and personal activities are planned accordingly. Any household activity can be considered providing a full risk assessment has been undertaken\u00a0 Activities can include choosing the daily menu, cooking, setting the tables, gardening, ironing and washing up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where are we?<\/strong>

The Home is located in the outskirts of Shotley Bridge, approximately 3 miles from Consett with panoramic views over the Derwent Valley.\u00a0Close\u00a0to the Home there is access to the local bus with a regular service between Consett and Newcastle.

We are proud of the quality of care we provide.\u00a0 The Home is inspected at least twice a year by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and the Local Authority. Considering a move to Proctor House<\/strong>
All prospective Client\u2019s, relatives \/ carers are offered the opportunity to visit the Home and meet with other Clients \/ staff before making any decisions e.g. a Client may wish to undertake a day visit, overnight or weekend stay. An admission date is only arranged when a decision has been mutually agreed, by all relevant parties. It is important to remember that admissions to the Home are usually subject to a 6 week trial period whereby either party may end the contract without obligation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
